Types of Sports Logos?
At Sports Logo History, we cover the history of three different types of logos. Here are the three different types of logos:
1. A Primary Logo is the current and main focused logo for promoting each team. It is the logo that will be seen the most. It will be used the majority of the time when a logo is necessary for all marketing aspects. This logo should be considered the MVP of a sports team’s brand identity.
2. The Alternate Logo is the same style and design of the team's primary logo, only with a different look or concept design. The alternate logo increases the marketing value of the team with various looks to each alternate logo. The alternative logo is typically smaller than the primary logo, but it should be cohesive with the team’s brand identity.
3. The team's Wordmark Logo is just that. It is a wordmark of the name of the team's location, city and/or the team's nickname in a font that is unique and distinctive. The wordmark logo is typically marked for uniforms and other marketing scenarios. Wordmark logos are also called “logotypes.“
